Civilization VII Vortex Support

Before you install

Version 0.1.1 is a Vortex extension for the Steam edition of Sid Meier's Civilization VII. It is installed into Vortex and does not add gameplay content itself.

Requirements are Windows 10 or 11, Vortex 2.4.2 or newer, and Civilization VII installed through Steam. The published test combination is Civilization VII 1.4.2.28 with Vortex 2.4.2.

Use this extension for the Steam edition. Epic Games Store support is not included in this release.

Adding Civilization VII to Vortex

1. Use Manual Download on this extension's Nexus Mods page to save the ZIP package.
2. Open Vortex → Extensions → Install From File and select the downloaded ZIP.
3. Restart Vortex.
4. Open Games, find Sid Meier's Civilization VII and choose Manage.
5. Download a compatible Civilization VII mod, install and enable it in Vortex, then deploy it normally.

• Install the extension through the Extensions screen. Do not extract its ZIP into the game's Mods folder or the Civilization VII installation folder.

Installing your game mods

Once the extension is enabled, compatible Civilization VII downloads can use Mod Manager Download from their Nexus pages. Vortex installs them into the game's normal user Mods folder.

Follow each mod's own requirements and installation notes. The extension manages normal Civilization VII mod packages; it does not change how the game resolves their dependencies or load order.

Packages that replace files in Base, DLC or other parts of the game installation are outside this extension's normal deployment support.

Use one Civilization VII extension

Only one Vortex extension should manage Civilization VII. Disable or remove another Civilization VII game-support extension before enabling this one.

For mod downloads that Vortex cannot recognize, keep the original package intact and check the author's installation instructions. Packages with unclear or unusual folder layouts may need a different installation method.

If Vortex cannot find or deploy the game

1. Confirm the Steam edition of Civilization VII is installed and visible in your Steam library.
2. Restart Vortex after installing the extension and check Games → Sid Meier's Civilization VII → Manage.
3. If Vortex reports duplicate support, disable the other Civilization VII extension.
4. If a deployed mod is missing in game, check that it is enabled, deployed, and meets the mod author's requirements.
5. For support, include the extension, Vortex and Civilization VII versions, the mod you were installing and the exact message shown by Vortex.
