Overview
Set your companion limit to 2500 - Build the ultimate warband!
Description
This lightweight mod sets the maximum companion limit to 2500 for the player clan, effectively removing any practical companion limit while keeping the game's internal systems working properly.
Build massive armies with countless companions, create the ultimate roster of heroes, or simply enjoy the freedom to recruit whoever you want without artificial restrictions!
Key Points:
Player Only: Sets limit to 2500 for your clan only - AI clans keep their normal limits
No Balance Changes: Only affects the companion limit - everything else works normally
Performance Note: Having many companions may impact performance - use responsibly!
Features
- Sets companion limit to 2500 (practically unlimited)
- Only affects the player clan
- AI clans maintain their normal companion limits
- Focused implementation - a single Harmony postfix changes the player-clan limit
- Designed to coexist with mods that do not replace companion-limit calculations
- The patch itself performs little work, but large companion rosters can affect game performance
- Designed to be added to or removed from existing saves
- No configuration needed - just install and play
- Applies to the player-clan companion-limit calculation used by vanilla and compatible modded companions
Requirements
- Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord v1.0.0 or higher
- The published release does not list a separate external mod dependency.
- The implementation uses a Harmony postfix internally; this does not by itself mean that Bannerlord.Harmony must be installed separately. Check the current Nexus requirements panel with the release file.

Load Order
- Native
- SandBoxCore
- SandBox
- StoryMode (Optional)
- WPS_CompanionsNoLimits
- [Your other mods]
- This mod has minimal load order requirements and should work in most positions.
Compatibility
- Designed to work with mods that do not directly replace companion-limit calculations.
- Companion, hero, troop, or overhaul mods can still interact if they replace the same clan-tier model.
- Other companion limit mods (use only one)
- [WPS] Companion Limit (this mod replaces it - do not use both)
Technical Details
Uses a Harmony postfix patch on DefaultClanTierModel.GetCompanionLimit. This is a non-intrusive patch that only affects the player clan's companion limit calculation.
Uninstallation
- Recommended removal steps:
- Save your game
- Disable the mod in the launcher
- Delete the WPS_CompanionsNoLimits folder from your Modules directory (optional)
- Note: Your companion limit will return to normal game values after removal.
Known Issues
- Performance: Large companion rosters, especially 100 or more, may slow party-management screens, battles, or other hero-heavy operations.
- Recommendation: While you CAN have 2500 companions, consider keeping it reasonable (under 100) for optimal game performance.
FAQ
Q: Will this work on existing saves?
A: It is designed to be added to or removed from existing campaigns. Back up important saves before changing any mod list.
Q: Does this affect AI lords?
A: No, only the player clan is affected. AI clans keep their normal limits.
Q: Can I change the limit from 2500?
A: Not without editing the source code and recompiling. 2500 is set as a "practically unlimited" value.
Q: Will this break my game?
A: The change is narrowly scoped, but mod combinations and very large rosters can still affect stability or performance. Keep a save backup and increase the roster gradually.
Q: Does this work with modded companions?
A: It applies to companions that use Bannerlord's player-clan companion-limit calculation. A mod that replaces that calculation may behave differently.
Q: Can I use this with [WPS] Companion Limit?
A: No, do not use both - they modify the same thing. Use one or the other.
Q: Why 2500 specifically?
A: It's high enough to be effectively unlimited for any reasonable playthrough while staying within safe integer bounds.
