Requirements

For Bannerlord 1.5.2 single-player. Requires Harmony 2.4.2.248 and UIExtenderEx 2.13.3 alongside the official game modules. MCM is optional for in-game settings.

Trade XP Tracker 1.1.0 or newer is optional for detailed market reports. Automatic Village Enterprises courier rewards support versions 1.3.1.22, 1.3.1.24, and 1.4.0.5. Other versions leave that automatic courier feature unavailable; ordinary market sales still work.

Installation and load order

  1. Close Bannerlord and install the required mods.
  2. Subscribe on Steam, install the Nexus package through your manager, or place the complete WPS_FairTrade folder inside Modules.
  3. Load Harmony and UIExtenderEx before Fair Trade. If present, load MCM and Village Enterprises before it, and Trade XP Tracker after it.
  4. Keep one enabled copy. Disable the older Item Quality Indicator if you want Fair Trade’s item colors; when both are enabled, the older indicator provides the colors.

Earn Trade XP from paid sales

Finish a paid sale of goods, loot, crafted stock, equipment, animals, or workshop output. Fair Trade rewards sale value and any confirmed profit. Moving items, gifts, collecting stock, previews, canceled trades, and unpaid transfers are not sales.

Purchased stock keeps its remembered cost through supported storage and party moves. For mixed stacks, only the purchased part contributes confirmed profit. Existing campaigns start with the purchase history the game still remembers; forgotten purchases cannot be restored.

Learning rates and skill caps still apply. Small pending rewards accumulate, and XP already awarded by the game is counted to avoid paying it twice. Village Enterprises operating and delivery costs reduce profit, and collecting an already rewarded payout does not award XP again.

Default rewards

Before learning adjustments, the default reward is 0.10 XP per denar of sale value plus 0.50 XP per denar of confirmed profit.

  • Buy for 1,000 and sell for 1,500: 400 XP before learning adjustments.
  • Sell 1,500 denars of loot with no recorded purchase cost: 150 XP.
  • Buy for 1,000 and sell at a loss for 800: 80 XP.

Settings and item colors

MCM provides separate player and computer-controlled hero reward rates, business rewards, item colors, messages, and support logs. Sale and profit rates can each be set from 0–10. Features and messages start on; support logs start off.

Without MCM, close the game before editing Documents\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord\Configs\WPS_FairTrade\settings.xml.

Item colors use a subtle tint: poor and inferior items are gray, fine blue, masterwork purple, and legendary orange. Common items keep their normal appearance.

If you used version 1.0.0

For a large save affected by Fair Trade 1.0.0, keep the original backup. Install 1.0.2, load the save, save into a new slot, fully restart Bannerlord, and verify that the new slot loads before continuing. Disabling Fair Trade alone does not repair an affected older save.

Trading alongside other mods

Mods that change inventories, businesses, trading rows, or Trade XP can overlap. When asking for help, include the item, quantity, location, and expected result; turn on support logs only when needed.
