Requirements
Designed for single-player campaigns on the Windows version of Civilization VII. Unit Gifts can be added to an existing campaign and begins tracking gifts after it is enabled.
Installation
- Exit Civilization VII completely. Subscribe on Steam or extract the Nexus archive.
- For a manual installation, place the complete WPS_CivVII_UnitGifts folder in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VII\Mods. Keep the folder intact.
- Restart the game and enable WPS Unit Gifts in Add-Ons/Mods if needed.
- When updating a manual installation, replace the previous folder. Do not keep duplicate or renamed copies.
Gift a military unit
An unavailable action remains visible, and its tooltip explains the missing requirement. Commanders, Great People, Privateers, units with build charges, and other special command units cannot be gifted.
- Unlock Organized Military in the Antiquity Age. The ability remains available in later Ages.
- During your turn, select an eligible ordinary land or naval military unit.
- Move onto a land or water tile owned by a friend, ally, non-hostile independent power, or city-state.
- Select the Gift Unit symbol on the unit action bar.
- Review the confirmation and approve the permanent transfer.
What changes after a gift
The recipient takes permanent control of the unit. Its type and current damage are kept; custom names, some promotions, temporary effects, orders, and remaining movement may not carry over.
Each gift adds one relationship point per point of the unit’s base Combat Strength. Bonuses stack, with each gift fading independently over 60 turns. Look for Gifted Units in the relationship breakdown.
Player and computer-controlled major civilizations can give units. Independent powers and city-states can receive gifts but cannot give them.
Before removing the mod
Keep Unit Gifts enabled until 60 turns after your last completed gift so that every active relationship contribution has finished fading.
If gifting is unavailable
Use the action tooltip to check the unit, unlock, recipient, and tile requirements. Mods that replace the unit action panel or substantially change unit transfers and diplomacy can conflict.
