Make the most of your mod

Before you install

Version 1.0.2 is available on Nexus Mods and Steam Workshop. The Nexus release lists Bannerlord 1.4.8 stable.

The mod appears in the launcher as [WPS] Companion Limit. Its manual installation folder is WPS_CompanionLimit.

The Nexus package lists its Harmony library as included. The Steam Workshop release requires Harmony to be installed and enabled separately. Enable Native, SandBoxCore and Sandbox.

Installation

  1. Download Companion Progression from Nexus Mods or subscribe on Steam Workshop. Subscribe to Harmony as well when using the Workshop release.
  2. For a manual installation, extract WPS_CompanionLimit into Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\.
  3. Open Singleplayer → Mods and enable [WPS] Companion Limit after the official campaign modules and Harmony when using the Workshop release.
  4. Disable other companion-cap mods, then start or load a campaign.

How the companion limit grows

Your clan starts with one companion slot and gains another for every five complete character levels. Your character level determines the cap, rather than clan tier.

AI clans keep their normal companion limits. This mod changes how many companions you can recruit; it does not change their skills or attribute points.

  • Levels 1–4: 1 companion.
  • Levels 5–9: 2 companions.
  • Levels 10–14: 3 companions.
  • Levels 15–19: 4 companions.
  • Levels 20–24: 5 companions.
  • The same pattern continues: levels 40–44 allow 9 companions, and levels 45–49 allow 10.

Campaign and mod compatibility

The published release supports adding the mod to an existing campaign.

Choose between this level-based progression and WPS Companions No Limits. Do not run both, or combine them with another mod that sets the companion cap.

To remove a manual installation, close the game, disable [WPS] Companion Limit in the launcher and remove WPS_CompanionLimit from Modules.

If the companion limit is wrong

  1. Check your character level against the progression above. A new slot is added at levels 5, 10, 15 and every five levels after that.
  2. Confirm [WPS] Companion Limit is enabled. Check the separate Harmony dependency when using Steam Workshop.
  3. Disable other companion-limit mods while checking the result.
  4. Report the game and mod versions, character level, displayed limit, expected limit and complete load order on the official page.
