Overview
WPS Village Escorts adds a kingdom policy that lets village-owning clans protect villager parties with culture-specific foot soldiers.
Once the policy is enacted, villager parties receive guards based on the owning clan's tier.
Features
- New Kingdom Policy - Adds the [WPS] Village Escorts policy.
- Clan Tier Scaling - Villager parties receive 3 guard troops per owner clan tier.
- Tier-Matched Guards - Guard troop tier follows the owner clan tier.
- Culture Specific - Guards are selected from the owner clan's culture.
- Foot Troops Only - Infantry and ranged foot soldiers only; no cavalry allocation.
- Policy Costs - Ruler clan pays 5% more recruitment cost; village-owning clans pay 5% more garrison wages.
- AI Voting Logic - Clan support considers land ownership, finances, ruler costs, and relation to the proposer.
- Lightweight Implementation - Uses focused campaign events and narrow Harmony patches.
- No Bundled Patching DLL - Uses the standard Bannerlord.Harmony dependency instead of shipping a separate Harmony DLL.
How It Works
When the policy is active, each villager party is checked when it spawns, after the policy is enacted, after clan tier increases, after game load, and when hourly ticks occur while the party is in a settlement.
Example:
Village owner clan tier: 3
Escort rate: 3 guards per clan tier
Total policy guards: 9
Guard culture: owner clan culture
Guard troop tier: tier 3
Normal villager party troops do not reduce the policy escort quota.
Policy Costs
- Kingdom ruler clan: +5% troop recruitment cost while the policy is active.
- Village-owning clans: +5% garrison wages while the policy is active.
AI Voting
- Landed clans evaluate whether the policy benefits their villages enough to justify the added costs. Landless clans abstain unless they have more than 50 relation with the proposing clan leader, in which case they support the proposal.
Requirements

Installation
- Download the latest version.
- Extract the WPS_VillageEscorts folder to Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\.
- Launch the game.
- Enable Bannerlord.Harmony and WPS Village Escorts in the mod launcher, with Harmony first.
- Start or load a campaign.
Vortex Mod Manager
On Nexus Mods, select Mod Manager Download for the current WPS Village Escorts file.
Install with Vortex.
Enable Bannerlord.Harmony and this mod.
Deploy mods.
Launch the game and enable the module if needed.
Compatibility
- Designed for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord singleplayer.
- Requires Bannerlord.Harmony.
- Designed to be added to an existing campaign; back up important saves before changing the module list.
- Removing after the policy has been enacted is not recommended unless you first repeal the policy and back up your save.
- No MCM dependency.
- May overlap with other mods that patch recruitment cost, garrison wages, or kingdom policy voting.
Troubleshooting
If no escorts appear, confirm the WPS Village Escorts kingdom policy has been enacted; installing the module does not enact the policy automatically.
Verify Bannerlord.Harmony is enabled before WPS Village Escorts. Then trigger a refresh by spawning a villager party, enacting the policy, increasing clan tier, loading the game, or waiting for an hourly tick while the party is in a settlement.
Confirm the village has an owning clan and that its culture provides an eligible foot troop at the required tier. Normal villager troops do not count toward the policy escort quota.
If policy costs or voting support look wrong, test without another mod that changes recruitment cost, garrison wages, or kingdom-policy voting.
When reporting a reproducible issue on the mod's Nexus page, include Bannerlord and Harmony versions, policy state, owner clan tier and culture, villager-party composition, and a complete mod list.
